About Weir

Weir was born in Texas and has maintained deep roots in both East Texas and North Texas. He graduated college from the University of Texas, Austin, and from Baylor School of Law. Prior to attending law school, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army. Weir is married, has two children, and two grandchildren. He has served as a board member on the Longhorn Council of the Boy Scouts of America for thirty-five years.

For the last thirty years, Weir has been practicing exclusively in the area of family law. He is a current member and the former president of the Tarrant County Family Law Bar Association. In addition, Weir has been designated an AV Rated Lawyer by Martindale-Hubbell, a legal service company that provides peer and client review ratings for attorneys. Weir was selected as a Top Lawyer by Fort Worth Magazine and was honored to be named one of the Super Lawyers of 2013. Weir’s practice is primarily in the family law courts of Tarrant County. In addition to being quite familiar with these courts, he has been a visiting associate judge on numerous occasions in many of the family law courts in Tarrant County. This unique and extensive experience enables Weir to counsel clients on what to expect and how best to prepare for trial and hearings.

Weir has a solid understanding of what is required to guide a client through family law litigation – particularly those matters involving complex property division. Weir routinely works with accountants, business valuators, real estate appraisers, and other experts in divorces involving high net worth clients. Many such clients own their own company and recognize Weir’s competence in representing a client in that situation. He is experienced at aggressively representing a client’s property interests.

In addition to property issues, Weir regularly represents clients in other areas of family law. Many times a case involves highly contested issues regarding child support or conservatorship (sometimes referred to as custody). Weir is experienced at preparing clients for a contested case and has more than thirty years of experience trying and winning cases hard-fought in the courtroom.

Similar to representing spouses and parents, Weir also represents grandparents. He is uniquely familiar with the challenges these individuals experience and their contributions in the family law process.

There is rarely a weekday morning that doesn’t find Weir at court at 7:00 am working on a matter for a client. With his level of dedication and experience, it is not surprising that his clients are well prepared for the difficulties of a family law case and confident in their choice of Weir as their attorney.

Sydney “Syd” Broyles

Weir’s legal assistant is Syd Broyles. She has worked with Weir for more than thirty-five years. When not spending time with her grandchildren, she enjoys cooking, crafting and working in her garden. Having spent so many years in the area of family law, Syd is quite familiar with court proceedings and she utilizes that extensive experience for the benefit of the clients at Wilson, White & Doby, LLP. This experience is reassuring to clients that have not been previously involved in a legal proceeding.
